In 1996 as plans were bring put in
place for the first ALBERTA SUPERRUN show, major
discussions revolved around how we could put
something back into the community of Red Deer.
Recognizing that the organizing
committee was formed from clubs from Calgary to
Edmonton and everywhere in between, a charitable
organization should be selected to receive any
leftover funds should reflect this demographic. STARS was the unanimous choice of the committee
for the work they do throughout the province and
southeast BC.
As STARS is a non-profit,
volunteer driven organization and much of their work
centers around helping accident victims to get
immediate assistance, this unfortunate connection to
our car hobby seemed a natural choice.
With the generosity of key
sponsorship support and a very diligent volunteer
operating committee, Alberta SuperRun Association
has managed a positive balance after each show.
With a small operating seed fund
being withheld, any additional profits are donated
to STARS on behalf of our participants and
sponsors.
